Fine tune your self image
We all have one, and it can influence and guide us in a myriad of ways.
Some people's self image is a lofty ideal that they strive towards, for others that unreachable ideal generates self criticism. For some, the self image is of a past self, someone they strive to still be or someone who they feel great about.
Some people look at their self image and say "hey! looking great" whilst others say "I knew I would never be good enough"
Well, whatever your self image says to you, here's something you need to know.
What happens when you judge someone? Do you genuinely feel what they feel, or do you feel the feeling that the judgement generates? The answer is that whilst you think you are empathic and understanding, you feel your own feelings.
Imagine someone who is happily pottering along doing something they're perfectly happy with and which you think is dreadful or immoral. Now imagine what it would be like if...
In order for you to have a self image, you take a snapshot of yourself. It's either a past image or a future image, but it isn't a current image. Next, as you look at that image, you're not you - you're some other observer. There's only one of you, so if you can see you then mentally you flip into another observer role. Mother, father, whatever.
Next, as an observer, you can see the behaviour of 'you', but you can't feel what 'you' feel, you can only feel what you as the observer feels, the good or bad judgement.
So when you create a self image, you dissociate, look back at yourself and feel the feelings of the person judging you. Crazy.
So when you doubt yourself, that's not you doing the doubting, its you putting yourself in the mind of someone who doesn't believe in you. And since that person isn't real, why would you have it influence you?
As you become more aware of your self image, you can literally step into it and try it on for size. You can fine tune the image until it gives you the feelings you need - confidence, self acceptance and so on.
Sounds wild? Then try this for size:

Scientists have recreated out of body experiences. Guess what? What they have done is to generate artificial, external self images. And guess what? The subjects started to see the self images as themselves. And then they associated their feelings with the observed images.
This stuff makes a massive difference to the quality of a person's life, and you can dramatically improve the quality of your own life. Why not sign up for the upcoming Practitioner program right now and make a start?
