Newsletters and Surveys We're introducing a new idea for 2007 - reader surveys. Well, it's new for us, anyway. Here's the plan. For even months, the newsletter will be a survey, polling your reactions or experiences on a current issue that is relevant to our readers. The survey will take you only a couple of minutes to complete online. For odd months, you'll receive a regular newsletter which will have the results of the survey. Therefore, we need your help. We need you to reply to this message now and tell us what the top issue is that you would like to see surveyed. You can of course suggest as many as you like. Why would you bother? Because the survey results will be relevant and valuable to you by having a wide range and a large number of people responding. And that large number of people isn't other people, it's you! We can imagine people being interested in questions such as "how many people are really using coaching as a serious development tool?" or "does training still work?" or even "what is the average training budget per employee that a company allocates?" So remember - reply now and tell us what you want to know. New Books Peter is rewriting Change Magic - in fact it might even be finished. Once the new version is available there will be a reader competition to win a copy - just like when it was first released in 2002. The new version has grown from 180 pages to 292, so there is a lot more in it that you'll just love! The first competition was for you to come up with collective nouns for your workplace. In the meantime, if you want to suggest an idea for the new competition and we use your idea, you get a copy of the new book too! Peter is also writing a leadership handbook entitled 'Breakthrough Leadership' for one of our clients to accompany their leadership development program. It's an interesting way to support the learning process, and is designed to be a companion guide that leaders will always keep with them and refer to. Have you thought about something like this to accompany your own internal programs - a properly published book? It lends great credibility and has much more impact than an A4 ring binder of notes. |

The pace of everyday life often leaves us having to make snap decisions or react to situations. It's useful, then, to make time to reflect on those. You won't change what has already happened, but you will find yourself feeling even more prepared next time. So we can't predict the unpredicted, but we can get better at reacting to it, just by making sure we take time to think.
